Kripalu – Woodstock – Hudson River Valley

Meanwhile we were with a Day Pass in the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, which according to a course instructor last year a total of 400,000! Visitors registered. So also a hip address for mindfulness practitioners …

When we booked a day before, the sun was still shining from the sky, the next day it was already pouring down at 6 o’clock in the morning, at the beginning of our breakfast there, like out of buckets. For me this meant: house arrest, no photo safari through the park! Instead sauna, meditation lesson at noon and in the evening a fantasy journey.

We spent the night there in our amigo and drove the next morning to the legendary Woodstock. The festival 50 years ago took place several miles away in the village of Bethel. 150000 visitors were expected at that time, 500 thousand came!

Due to the quite changeable road (surface) conditions we don’t drive through the area in the dark anymore and like to spend the night in a parking lot at McDonalds – with some fast food, plenty of coffee, a restroom and a good internet connection.

Today we went to the biggest sculpture garden of the USA. In the morning, after waking up on a Walmart parking lot, the thermometer showed only a modest 5 degrees Celsius. The sky shone in a wonderful blue and we could enjoy the landscape and works of art in the Storm King Art Center during the day.

Before dusk the way led us up to Bear Mountain. The guide had promised a rewarding view of the Hudson River valley and Manhattan on the horizon. A lot of activity in the late Saturday afternoon and a long queue of cars was waiting for us.

Manhattan, our destination on Monday, was actually visible in the haze of the horizon!

Wir freuen uns auf den Austausch mit dir...
